Is Emalahleni City Council starting a Hydro Electricity Plant in Birkholtz Street?
Last week, many areas around eMalahleni were without water and electricity and many questions have been asked as to why.
The mini-substation in Birkholtz Street as water streamed through it last week.
In Birkholtz Street, people were amazed by the water that was flowing through the mini-substation.
Eventually the water and electricity was turned off in the area, and the burst water pipe was repaired.
“The reality of the matter is that water pipes share the same trench with electricity cables in each and every area where electricity and water is supplied. In this instance, unfortunately there was a burst in the water pipe and water could only escape through the mini substation. There is nothing unusual in having both water and electricity pipes running in the same trench, but care is obviously taken to isolate water and electricity,” said Mr Kingdom Mabuza, communication spokesperson from Emalahleni City Council.
