Suspects get away with cell phones and cash

On Friday, May 19 at 12:30 Mr Lucky Magagula alleged that he went to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money from a bank in Saveways Crescent.

When he was finished, he then drove towards the Central Business District (CBD) in order to pay someone.
While driving down to the corner of Botha and Lukin Street he noticed a 3 series BMW flickering lights at him.
Magagula decided to stop his vehicle on the side of the road. That is when the driver of the BMW stopped his vehicle in front of Magagula who was now blocked in with no where to go.

Two suspects the climbed out of the BMW and approached Magagula who was seated inside his car.
Magagula recalls the one suspect asking for money, and then he asked the suspect which money, that is when the suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed a gun at Magagula.

The suspects then found the money inside the car and took it all.
At 04:30 on the same day, Mr Melusi Ncube alleged that he parked his work truck by the N4 toll gate by Middelburg Plaza.

While sleeping, he heard a knock on the window and saw an unknown man armed with a wheel spanner.
Ncube refused to open the door and that is when the suspect broke the window and pulled out his firearm.

Once Ncube saw the firearm he opened the passenger door and jumped out of the truck.
As Ncube was outside of the truck another suspect appeared from the bushes and hit Ncube over the head with a wheel spanner.

The two suspects then started searching the truck for personal belongings and took a cell phone, once they had the phone they ran away from the scene.

Ms Aubery Nicholson alleged that on Thursday, May 18 at 19:00 she was inside her vehicle with her father.
They were busy reversing out of the garden in Tasbet Park x3 when she reached for the gate, two unknown men approached her.

The one suspect pointed a firearm at her and the other suspect pointed a firearm at her father.
The suspects took the car keys and threw them into the bushes, and then they took Nicholson’s necklace, R60 and a cell phone.

As soon as the suspects got what they wanted they ran away with the stolen items.
On Tuesday, May 16 at 07:40 Mr Piet Maimela alleged that he was hitch hiking along the Old Ogies Road when a white Polo stopped and picked him up.

They were going to drop Maimela off on a farm where he works. While travelling they passed the farm, the suspect in the back seat pulled out a firearm.

The driver of the Polo then stopped his vehicle and ordered Maimela to climb out, but before he climbed out the suspects took cash and two cell phones.

Maimela was then left stranded on the side of the road, without money or a cell phone.
In a separate incident, Mr Josia Chauke alleged that on Monday, May 15 at 17:40 he was walking down the Old Middelburg Road when he was approached by two unknown men.

One of the suspects took out a firearm and demanded that Chauke hand over his money and cell phone.

“I was so scared that I just handed over my money and cell phone,” said Chauke.

On the same day 40 minutes earlier Mr Michael Myeni was hiking on the Old Ogies road and he managed to get a lift from a person in a white Toyota Yaris.

Myeni recalls that there were three occupants inside the car. While travelling the driver continued to say that there was something wrong with the vehicle.

As they stopped the one occupant in the back seat pulled out his firearm.
That is when Myeni had to hand over all his personal belongings, he was then told to get out of the vehicle and they drove away.

Earlier that day at 14:40 Mr Abram Tau alleged that he was walking to school when two suspects stopped him.
They were armed with firearms; one of the suspects took out a gun and demanded that he hand over his cell phone.
The suspects were driving in a Volkswagen Polo.

On Wednesday, May 3 at 18:00 Mr Sabelo Mkhize alleged that he was travelling in his Toyota Hilux bakkie towing a trailer.

He decided to stop on the off ramp on the corner of OR Tambo and N4 highway as he heard a noise.
As he was climbing out of the bakkie, he was approached by three unknown men.

One of the suspects was armed with a firearm; he demanded that he hand over his cash and cell phone.
They took his cell phone and then left the scene.

None of the suspects have been arrested in any of these cases.
