A man saw a car for sale on social media and decided to purchase it, little did he know he would be robbed at gunpoint.

On April 29 Mr Steven Thokwane and his friend headed to the bank to withdraw money after seeing a post on Facebook of a Golf 1 for sale.

“I got in contact with the owner and we agreed to meet in Tasbet,” said Thokwane.

Thokwane’s friend withdrew the money and got into the Volkswagen Polo driven by Thokwane, they headed for Benny Osler Street where they were to make the deal for the car.

On their arrival a black BMW X5 pulled up behind their car preventing them from reversing out of the situation.

“Two guys got out the car, one of them had a gun, they robbed us,” said Thokwane.

The robbers took both men’s possessions including the leather jacket where the money had been stashed, their documentation, banking cards, license and Thokwane’s car keys.

They then drove off leaving the two men unharmed.

“We are suffering this month as a lot of money was stolen, I have to replace my car keys as I don’t have a spare and that too is a lot of money,” said Thokwane.
