Murder suspect granted bail

A murder took place in Phola at the Masakhane Ground.
This happened on Wednesday, April 5.

Police were made aware of this when a friend of the deceased, Mr Karabo Nhlapo reported it to Phola Police Station. Police attended the scene and found a male with a deep stab wound to the chest.

He was declared dead on the scene and a murder case was then opened. A suspect was arrested at the crime scene and detained at the Phola Police Station.

According to communications officer of Ogies Police, Constable Thabang Mabena, the suspect was still at the scene when the police arrived, which led to his arrest.

The accused appeared in Ogies Magistrates Court on a charge of murder on Friday, April 7 for his first appearance. He appeared for a second time on Wednesday, April 12 and was granted bail of R1000.

His case was postponed until May 29, to allow time for further investigation.
