When different reaction units come together, crime gets solved much quicker. This is what happened when a car that was hijacked was later recovered. On Monday, April 17 South Africa Community Crime Watch (SACCW) Witbank and Zack Magudulela from Track-It recovered a hijacked vehicle at Vosman.

According to a police report a man driving a white Ford Ranger went to Verena Road to meet with his friend when the incident happened. When he got to the place he parked his vehicle and went outside. With his wife inside the vehicle, three suspects came out of a vehicle and allegedly pointed a gun at him. One of them fired a shot prior to the car getting hijacked.

SACCW Witbank Operations Coordinator, Maureen Scheeper said she knew of this incident when a message came through from their WhatsApp group about a brand new car that had just been hijacked. She then later contacted the technical team which consists of Magudulela who was fortunately around that area and the hunt began. Later on, the flying squad and police were contacted. The car was found ditched at Vosman.

“People are more than welcome to join our group on https://zello.com/SACCW,” said Scheeper.

When contacted for comment, owner of the vehicle said he wanted to ask permission from his wife to reply to the query. When he was called later a woman answered the phone stating that he was busy with another phone call, a few moments later he did not pick up.

There is another good story to tell of a red Golf 7 that was hijacked and found on Tuesday, April 4.

Lt Col Solly Thobejane was the officer that was working on this case. The man was hijacked at Duncan Street by three suspects who were allegedly carrying firearms.

“I am very happy my car was found,” said the owner of the vehicle.

Another vehicle found was a Volkswagen Polo 1.6. It was abandoned at Klarinet on Saturday, April 15 after it was stolen the previous day at Van Ryneveld Avenue.
