Community members encouraged to work hand in hand with police

A crime awareness campaign was held by the Vosman Police

A crime awareness campaign was held by the Vosman Police together with other stakeholders.

The campaign was held at Schoongezicht sports ground on Sunday, April 2 at 15:00. Captain Klaas Maloka attended the campaign together with other officers where a Community Policing Forum (CPF) was established strengthening the Neighbourhood Watch patrols at Mpondozankomo informal settlement.

Captain Maloka indicated that the meeting was attended by community members who raise crime challenges. He further appreciated community members for their efforts on behalf of Vosman Station commander Brigadier Eric Masiya.
House breaking and robberies after hours were identified as key crime concerns. Unused buildings were also pointed as being used by drug users and dealers.

Captain Maloka promised that the police will conduct joint operations with law enforcements agencies, CPF, Community Development Workers (CDW) and ward councillors.

Community members were further advised not to take the law into their own hands by assaulting suspects but rather to report them to the police because assaulting them is never a solution to a crime problem.
