Learners receive sanitary towels

Learners of two schools in Klarinet were delighted when they were presented with sanitary towels from the office of premier in partnership with other stakeholders.

Principal of Alex Mampane Primary School Mr Deane Reddy opened with a prayer and told the learners that they must put God first in whatever they are doing and that they were privileged to be one of the schools to receive the gifts. Mr Reddy further thanked the office of the premier for the donation alluding to the fact that it will make learning comfortable.

Ms Lindiwe Mabaso from the premier’s office explained that they had partnered with other stakeholders to donate the sanitary towels. She said the gifts showed that they love the learners and that they need to focus on their studies. The learners were told about the importance of education and that it can change their lives and that of their families in the future.

“As the provincial government we need you to be bold for change. We have learnership programmes set for you, feeding schemes and other programmes to make your education a priority. Nothing is impossible once you put more effort in your studies. We are committed to support you and we want to make you dignified. We want you to make a list of your other needs so that we can provide for you,” said Ms Mabaso.

Phindile Ndlovu, a Grade 10 learner of Coronation Secondary School after receiving her sanitary towels from Ms Lindiwe Mabaso.

Another official emphasised the fact that it does not matter where one comes from as long as one have a dream and focus on that. She said education must change their situation for the better. She related her story while still at a boarding school and coming from a poor family was difficult for her but she succeeded by focusing on her dream of being a teacher and overcome all the challenges she faced.

Learners from Coronation Secondary School received the same motivation before they were presented with their gifts.

Ms Bongiwe Mabuza represented Vodacom, one of the stakeholders.

The principal of the school thanked the premiers’ office and the other stakeholders for the good gesture.
