As the darkness just settled in on March 10, a resident in the Hoëveld Park heard something unusual outside just to catch a suspect climbing up a telephone line next to his house. Luckily the resident was a member of the sector CPF and immediately alerted nearby members.

It was said that the SACCW arrived on the scene while an army of 20 residents from both forums blocked all exit roads. The suspect was cuffed and ready to go to jail as residents waited on the SAPS. The suspect was arrested on the scene and appeared in court on Monday, March 13.

The suspect that was caught for attempting to steal copper cables. The SACCW (South Africa Community Crime Watch) along with CPF (Community Policing Forum) members caught the suspect on March 10.

Unfortunately the case was taken off the roll because the cables he tried to steal were normal telephone lines and not copper cables.

It was also alleged that the suspect was sent to Witbank Provincial Hospital for back injuries he got when he fell down the telephone pole.

“This is what I call teamwork,” a member of the SACCW concluded.
