An accident that claimed two lives, shredded the lives of their families. The accident happened on Tuesday, February 28 on the Verena Road when a Golf collided with a taxi.

According to information received from the police, the accident occured when the taxi allegedly came straight toward the golf in his lane and they collided head on.

The bodies of the deceased were identified as Rose Nakabine Jiyane (44) and Susan Phindile Malope (28).
The brother of Rose, Mr Abel Jiyane described his sister as a very kind and loving person.

“She took care of our parents who was elderly and had a lot of love to give. She also took care of other members of the family’s children, loved them and supported them with their needs,” Jiyane said.

He also added that Rose was the second born of six children and her funeral was held on Saturday, March 4 at a Hertzog farm, on the way to Verena. Rose is survived by her daughter (20).

Jiyane said that Rose was on her way from Middelburg after a visit to her sister when the accident took place.
Susan was identified by her sister, Ms Josephina Mtsweni who described Susan as a happy, kind and patient person.

“She had twin boys of eight months old, and was not married,” said Josephina.

The buriel of Susan was also held on Saturday, March 4 in Verena.
