A man was left in the middle of nowhere, with no cell phone or wallet after being a victim of a car hijacking incident.
This happened on Friday, January 27 around 19:30 as he was travelling towards the N4/N12 split.
A man was driving his grey Ford Ranger bakkie from Middelburg’s direction going to Johannesburg.
He joined the N12 highway and he was driving on the left lane, a blue GTi overtook him and drove in-front of him really slowly.
“If I saw well I think the car was a 2014 model with a GP registration.”
Soon after a white Ford Ranger which was on the right lane reduced speed, signalled for him to roll down his window claiming they want to talk to him. He alleges as this was happening the occupants pointed him with a firearm.
The 41-year-old stopped on the side of the road as told and the suspects came out. He cannot recall how many they were at that time. They got into his car, pushed him to the back of the vehicle and drove until stopping at what looked like a farm.

“I do not know the name of the place, at that time it did not look familiar.”
Some suspects drive in his car to go withdraw money at the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) after they forced the victim to give them his bank card and pin code. He was left with only one suspect.
“If I am not mistaken, there could have been six suspects involved in this crime.”
The man apparently overheard the suspects say they will not leave with the car until they are able to remove the tracker.
Around 01:00 after being successful at removing the tracker they left him there all alone and drove off with his car which inside had his clothes and other important belongings.
By luck he was able to get assistance which led him to being able to open a case at the Witbank Police Station where after his wife fetched him and took him home.
“When we went back the following day with my relatives to see if there was anything else we could find on scene, we only found my few clothes but valuables like my Identity Document (ID), cell phone, driving licence and other vital documents were nowhere to be found.”
When consulting with his car tracking company he was made aware that the company lost the car’s signal at 22:11.
A couple of days after the incident he says an investigating officer called to alert him that some of his documents that were in the vehicle were found at Swaziland’s border gate but the car is nowhere to be found.
