Toto Mguzu’s life was ended on Friday, January 27 after he was involved in a hit and run incident.
The 30-year-old’s unfortunate story happened on the Old Middelburg Road when he allegedly crossed the road to go buy airtime.

The truck allegedly hit Mguzu and did not stop afterwards, however the truck’s front bumper together with the number plate was found on the scene next to the deceased’s body.

His brother Guzu was still shocked and could not construct proper sentences when asked about the passing of his brother. With a sad voice he referred us to his colleague who will speak on his behalf.

“I am still in shock and saddened by the news. I cannot believe this happened. What I can say though is everything is in the hands of the police, we will hear from them how it goes.”

The deceased’s colleague Mr Majolo Makoada shared Mguzu’s life saying he is originally from the Eastern Cape but moved this side due to work. He was working in construction.

“He was walking alone when going to buy airtime and he unfortunately did not make it back home.”

He says there is no fault he can find in his colleague who turned out to be his friend, he was a man of few words but a truly good person.

On the evening of the incident, the security guard who saw what had happened called the police and they are the ones that notified his family.

Funeral arrangements are in place and his burial will take place this coming Saturday, February 4 in the Eastern Cape.

“I will be there every step of the way, assisting the family so he gets a dignified send-off,” concluded Makoada with a sombre tone.
