Community members of KwaGuqa in Extension 9 and 12 were fuming after three boys were allegedly assaulted and dogs set on them.
They reported that it all started at a traditional event at Extension 9, while everybody was enjoying themselves a cell phone got lost. Three boys were first suspected of stealing the phone, the trio of Mawethu Dineka (20), Alfred Hlatshwayo and Zakhele Skhosana were the suspects. The incident happened at KwaGuqa in Extension 9 at midnight on Saturday, December 10.

A lady from KwaGuqa Extension 14 accused the three; they were then taken to her house and allegedly assaulted before dogs were set on them. It also said that close to eight people were involved in the assault. According to information from the three, Dineka was beaten on one leg, thigh and buttocks while Hlatshwayo was beaten in one hand, thigh as well as his stomach. Skhosana managed to escape before the dogs were set on him and called for help.
It later transpired that another friend who was with the three, managed to escaped before they were assaulted was also a suspect to the stealing of the cell phone.

It is said that after the assault the lady together with her children went to the house of the fourth suspect and jumped the fence looking for the suspect. It was then suggested that the best place to call was the police station since some people were beaten and a cell phone was missing. A case of assault was then opened in the early hours of Sunday morning. The three were then taken to Witbank Provincial Hospital.
It is also alleged that a lady together with her children went back to the house of the fourth suspect looking for him on Monday and the suspect was found on the street and taken to the police. He was kept at the police station for his own safety and was later released. There was allegation of threats that were made towards the family of the fourth suspect.

The community of Extension marched to the Vosman Police voicing their anger after the suspect was given bail.
Police are investigating a case of assault with intend to do grievous bodily harm, the lady was arrested and she is out on bail.
