Attackers left victims injured

"When I shouted: ‘Do not kill me!’, my older son of 17 years, woke up and came to see what was wrong."

A family of five is still picking up the pieces after they were attacked in their house.

On Saturday, November 26 they were sleeping and around 03:00, unknown men entered their home. Ms Mtsweni told the horrific tale of what happened that night.

“I just heard people entering the house and my bedroom, and they told me to lie down. They hit me with the back of a gun and I sustained injuries to my head. When I shouted: ‘Do not kill me’, my older son of 17 years, woke up and came to see what was wrong. A gunshot was fired, I think it was aimed at him but fortunately it did not hit him. My husband was tied outside the house where there is very little light. After the gunshot, my other two children also woke up. They were instructed to get into bed with me. They were fortunately not hurt. Laptops and cell phones were stolen, but at least I still had one cell phone from which I phoned the police. I do not think anyone has been arrested,” Ms Mtsweni said on Tuesday.

She explained the horrific experience with a lot of emotion, but also said that she is seeking counselling for her children, as all of them were very traumatised.

She also said that when they heard that it was quiet, they got up to see that the robbers were gone.
The police are still investigating the matter.
