27 Drug related arrests and more successes by Witbank Police

Witbank Police started operation festive season on a high note with a total of 104 arrests during police operations last week.

Witbank Police started operation festive season on a high note with a total of 104 arrests during police operations last week.

The operations were carried out over the period of October 25 to 31 and during these operations police were assisted by the community policing forum, security forces and Emalahleni Law Enforcement as well as traffic officers.

Among the arrests there were 27 for possession of drugs, additionally 21 people were arrested for theft and 16 for assault. Single arrests were made for the following offences, including business robbery, impersonating a police officer, armed robbery, attempted hijacking, bribery, rape, and murder.

Police carried out four arrests for shoplifting, seven for malicious damage to property, five for the possession of suspected stolen property and five for driving under the influence of alcohol.

There were two arrests made for fraud, two for the violation of a protection order, two for the possession of an unlicensed firearm, three for illegal immigration and three for common robbery.
