No water for the past three months

“While others hire vans to go and collect water for them people like me who is a pensioner really struggle."

Some resident’s of KwaGuqa in Extension 12 says they do not know who to turn to after they were left without water for the last three months.

The residents say they are divided by a street and across the streets the residents have water and they have to ask for water while others have to walk a few metres to Extension 14 to get water. The fortunate ones have Jojo tanks.

“two elevated tanks were installed to supply KwaGuqa Extension 2 and surrounding areas (Extension 11,12 and 14) but due to high demand we are unable to pump to the high level. As temporary measures water tankers are being dispatched daily, we are also procuring Jojo tanks to ensure that there is always enough storage for the day to cover working classes. Long term specification for a procurement of three mega litres steel tanks was already sent and the three Mega litres will store water for high level elevated tanks,” the statement from the municipality added.
