Brigadier Eric Masiya in command of Vosman Police Station

Brigadier Eric Masiya the new station commander of the Vosman Police Station has made it clear that he will need the cooperation of the community to fight crime in Vosman.

Brigadier Masiya joined the SAPS in February 7 in 1984 and he was born in Bushbuckridge. He has worked at Machadodorp and White River as a station commander while a Lieutenant Colonel in Nelspruit as a Colonel as commander of Visible Police. He also worked as Provincial Commander in general policing as a Colonel. Transferred as a Brigadier to Middelburg around June this year and in Mid July transferred to Vosman to assist and later confirmed as a commander of the Station on July 20.

Brigadier Masiya is concerned about the high number of hijacking and robberies in the policing area of Vosman. He said he was proud of the work by the pervious station commander and members of the SAPS in Vosman for the past five months the station has been doing well in solving crime.

“We need the support of the community to meet challenges. We need to walk hand in hand in an effort to solve crime. Liquor outlets are a concern as well. They need to keep to their operating times and follow the act, and we will enforce compliance if they do not keep to the law. Together with the owners we need to ensure that all is safe at liquor outlets, we need to work something together.”

The brigadier is a firm believer that a partnership with the community is the driving force to combat crime.

“We need to do the basic, prevent crime, do proper investigations and support community policing forums (CPF) and invite community members to work hand in hand with the police,” concluded Brigadier Masiya.
