The Witbank SAPS has been very busy once again with several drug arrests in record for the last week.
On August 3 a suspect was arrested in Del Judor for allegedly being in possession of drugs and stolen property.

The police confiscated unconfirmed drugs and a pipe. Another arrest was made on August 5 at 02:00 in the still hours of the morning, on duty officers came across a suspicious bakkie while on patrol.

The driver of the Bantam Bakkie tried to flee the police after they signalled for him to pull over. A chase insured in the Tasbet Park area and the police allegedly saw the suspect throw a white plastic bag out of the window.

Apparently the driver then gave up and stopped shortly after. He was searched and the plastic bag was apparently recovered by police. He was arrested and charged with possession of drugs. Mr Mxolisi Mnisi from Mountain of God rehab centre in Phola share some eye opening statistics.

“Statistics reveal that Emalahleni holds the number 2 position of the highest rate of drug abuse in the South Africa. Drug abuse is associated with both violent and income generating crimes by the youth. Gangs, trafficking, prostitution and growing numbers of youth homicides are among the social and criminal justice problems often linked to adolescent drug abuse”

From August 5 the police made three more drug related arrests specifically Sunday August 7 when police set up a stop and search in Klipfontein where they noticed a suspicious driver and searched his vehicle.

They allegedly found drugs in the car and arrested him. The same stop and search operation also rooted out another suspect who was arrested when police found alleged dagga hidden in his vehicle.
