A case of attempted murder was opened at Witbank Police Station after a man was shot at early last week.
On Friday, July 29 at 17:50 police officers received a call about a shooting incident.

When they arrived at the business in Eadie Street, Mr Raen Chette the complainant was not there. The police officers were told that he was already taken to Life Cosmos Hospital.

After taking a look at the scene, the police officers made their way to hospital where they found Chette in the Causality Unit.

Chette then explained to the police officers what happened. He alleged that he had locked up his shop and was making his way home to Pine Ridge with his colleague.

Once they had driven past the furniture shop, two unknown men approached them in the vehicle.
One of the men was armed with a firearm and shot Chette in the stomach demanding money after he was shot.
After he said that he has no money, the suspect allegedly shot him in his right leg as well, before leaving the scene without taking anything.

When the police returned to the crime scene they discovered two cartridges.

“At this stage I don’t have any news on his condition,” said Ms Christelle Matthee Marketing and Communications Coordinator from Life Cosmos Hospital.
