In two separate incidents on the R555, two more lives have been lost.
“The community are requested to drive safely and to adhere to the speed limits on the Old Ogies and Old Middelburg Roads as serious accidents have been taking place over the past month,” said Capt Eddie Hall, Witbank Police spokesperson.
A case of culpable homicide was opened after an accident occurred on July 8 just after 03:00. Police arrived to a grim scene as the male driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene.
Similarly an accident occurred on the Old Ogies Road on July 14 at about 06:40.
The accident that claimed a woman’s life took place close to the Blackhill turn off.
“Speeding, reckless and/or negligent driving, and under the influence of alcohol are the main causes of accidents on our roads in eMalahleni,” said Capt Hall.
Both the bodies of the deceased have not yet been formally identified by their next of kin.
