Afternoon traffic along the N12 highway came to a standstill for about 500 metres as an accident blocked one of the lanes last week.

The driver lost control of the vehicle due to one of the vehicle’s tyres burst causing the fully packed and occupied vehicle to roll along the highway.


Medics from the Provincial Ambulance Service stabilising one of the people that were involved in the accident on the N12 highway on Tuesday, June 28.


Various ambulance services, the traffic department and Witbank SAPS worked together on Tuesday, June 28 at the accident on the N12 highway.

The five occupants remained within the car’s confines as it rolled and hit the bridge barrier, the impact resulted in one of the front wheels, as well as the engine being flung toward the base of the bridge.
As the Tazz balanced on the cement pavement a bystander pulled a passenger from the vehicle who was on the edge of the bridge.

While emergency services responded to the scene, the passengers were pulled from the vehicle, and then the car was pulled off the edge.


One of the passengers been stabilised by medics on Tuesday, June 28.

Paramedics from various ambulance services attended to the injured. After seeing the maimed teddy bear, bystanders and paramedics started their search for the child it belonged to, during their rigorous search it was revealed that the child was fortunately not traveling in the car at the time of the accident.

This gave rest and peace to the uneasy hearts conducting the search.
