Vehicle crashes into a storm water drain

A company vehicle crashed into a storm water drain near KG Mall recently.

Mr Fanie van Aswegen was travelling from the direction of the N4 Highway on Friday, June 24 when the vehicle crashed into a storm water drain a few metres from the KG Mall.

According to Mr Van Aswegen he had just joined a traffic circle when he was disturbed by a vehicle coming from the left side of the circle into his lane.

He was going to collect an operator at the Engen Garage in Extension 5 when the accident happened at about 04:20.

“I saw the lights of the vehicle and the driver driving straight into my lane and I tried to avoid it and the wheels of my vehicle struck the pavement of the circle. I lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the storm water drain,” stated Mr van Aswegen.

Fortunately Van Aswegen was not injured but the vehicle was badly damaged. He works for FCE Construction Company.
