Police slam down on the dagga trade

A 30-year-old man was found in possession of ‘box-loads’ of dagga.

On June 10 the Middelburg K9 unit received reports of a suspicious vehicle heading out of Swaziland, they immediately set out to patrol the N4 in search of the vehicle with registration FC09RW GP.

At about 04:30 that morning they caught up to the vehicle and stopped it, they requested to search the vehicle and found two sealed boxes within.

On inspecting the boxes police discovered R500 000 worth of compressed dagga, they immediately arrested the 30-year-old man and charged him with possession and dealing with an undesirable substance.

Police made another arrest on June 11 while patrolling Woltemade Street. While driving they came upon a suspect sitting alongside the road, they searched the man and found him to be in possession of R100 worth of dagga.
He was arrested and charged with possession of dagga.
