The incident happened on Tuesday, June 7 on the N4 highway towards Middelburg Toll Plaza.
Five separate accidents occurred along a three kilometre stretch of the road.
The first accident occurred just before the toll plaza, where a touring group pulled off the road when a Toyota Fortuner was involved in a slight crash.

Following this collision a driver of a Corsa bakkie hit the back of a Clover truck.
Without hesitation the driver of the Corsa bakkie climbed out of his vehicle after battling to get the door open.

“A little voice told me to climb out of the vehicle and as soon as that voice speaks to you, you need to obey it,” said the concerned driver.

He stood next to the road and within a couple of minutes after helping a distressed woman in another vehicle, he heard a huge bang.
