A 40-year-old woman has been a victim of crime not once, not twice but three times. This follows after Dorcus Choma who was driving home from the pharmacy was hijacked in her yard at Tasbet Park.

This ordeal happened on Friday, May 27 around 18:00 when Choma was driving from work going to fetch her two children, aged nine months and six years from school. When she got home she remembered that one of her children was not feeling well, she decided to go rush to the pharmacy to get medication.

Upon return she got out to open the gate and drove in her yard, as she was closing the gate with the key still in ignition she saw two men coming towards her.

“One suspect was armed and the other was not, I am not too sure,”

said Choma.

The 40-year-old woman screamed and tried running to her house when the first suspect who was wearing a leather jacket and a cap allegedly pushed her to the ground and told her to not make noise.

When all this was happening the second suspect got into the vehicle and sped off with the first suspect also being in the car.

“I stood up and went into the house to make sure my children were safe, my eldest child and I screamed for help and pressed the panic button,” said Choma.

On the same day around 21:00 the woman received a phone call from Ogies Police Station to alert her that her vehicle was found on the N12 highway but the belongings that were in the car which was a laptop, modem, bag, money and her child’s teddy bear was not inside.

On May 29 a woman called to alert her that she had found a bag which had important documents such as bank cards, identity document and a driver’s license. Arrangements were made and Choma received her belongings on Monday.

“I am thankful to the woman that found my cards, we are currently waiting for police to complete their investigations so we can go fetch the vehicle,” said Choma.

She further stated that she is extremely grateful that none of her children were harmed.

“It is for the third time we have been a victim of crime, the first incident was a house robbery and the second one was an attempted house robbery. Luckily no one was hurt in any of the ordeals, I thank God,” concluded a relieved Choma.

Another hijacking case was opened at the Witbank Police Station when a man driving a grey VW Jetta was dropped off at a bush with suspects speeding off with his car.

On Wednesday, May 25 around 01:00 when the man stopped at one of the robots of OR Tambo Road, as he waited for the traffic lights to turn green, two men suddenly appeared and allegedly pointed at him with a firearm. According to a police report, the suspects stood next to the vehicle where the vehicle’s window was open.

The report further states that one of the suspects instructed the man to go to the back seat while the second suspect drove the car. After a few kilometres, the car stopped at the bushes, the man’s hands were tied with cable ties and they pushed him out of the vehicle.

It is alleged that the suspects stole his belongings. The registration number of the vehicle is HLK 624 MP. The man could not be reached for comment.
