The aim of the initiatives was to reduce lawlessness on the road as well as issuing traffic fines. They managed to fine 21 people who did not wear seatbelts, four for driving without driver’s licences, one for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for reckless and negligent driving and four for drinking in public.

According to Captain Klaas Maloka, Vosman communication officer the second approach of the operation was focussed on contact crime reduction. Two suspects were arrested for housebreaking, six for assault with grievous bodily harm, one for common robbery and one for rape.

The third part of the operation dealt with factors that led to the arrest of three suspect for possession of dagga, one for possession of drugs, one for possession of stolen property, one for possession of an unlicensed firearm, one for malicious damage to property, one for shoplifting, three for theft and three for being in the country illegally.

“The total number of suspects brought to book was 89, let’s act against crime,” stated Captain Maloka.
