Last week two friends never thought their dinner would turn out the way it did, after one of the girls was raped.
The incident happened on Tuesday, May 17 at 18:30. While walking in Mandela Street the friends thought they would rather hitch hike for a lift.
A black Yaris stopped, asking them where they were going to, the women then told them. There were two other passengers inside the vehicle.
While traveling along the road, all of a sudden the vehicle came to a stop and the passenger climbed into the back seat and he told the two girls to kneel down inside the vehicle.
He then tied their hands and feet together, the girls recalled the passenger being in possession of a firearm.
They then drove into the bushes once they were there, the driver of the vehicle left the car in the bushes with the passengers and the women.
The passenger then raped one of the girls. Once he was done, the girls managed to run away to the road.
They managed to wave down another vehicle, a truck stopped and he told the girls that they were on the Verena Road.
The suspects took R320 cash from the girls, two cell phones, their shoes and a watch.
