79 suspects caught during police operations

Operations carried out in conjunction with the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) lead to the arrest of 79 suspects.

The Witbank SAPS has made many arrests during the past week. Operations carried out in conjunction with the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) lead to the arrest of 79 suspects.

They arrested nine people for shoplifting; four people were also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Five general theft cases and 9 arrests for assault were also made. Another six people have been arrested for possession of drugs, and five people were booked for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
Crimes such as domestic violence, illegal immigration and damage to property saw many arrests being made. The suspects have been arrested for the serious crime of rape, and four people have also been arrested for fraud.

One person was taken into custody for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and another for aiming a gun at someone which is usually linked to robbery charges. There were also two successes for theft of motor vehicles and another two for theft out of a motor vehicle.

Among these many arrests they also took suspects into custody on corruption charges, common robbery and defeating the ends of justice. Four suspects were also arrested and charged with selling liquor without a license during the operation period. To report a crime contact the Witbank SAPS station on 013 656 5016.
