Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) is proud to announce that it will host the 2016 MWEB On-line Dota 2, Counter Strike GO (CS:GO), and League of Legends championships, which will offer local players the opportunity to qualify for the National Team Trials.

In case you haven’t been watching the local gaming press, Dota 2, CounterStrike: GO, and League of Legends players in South Africa have had the opportunity to get full Protea Colours for the games and represent the country in official test matches and abroad.

Today South Africa is ranked in 12th place by the International eSports Federation.

The 2016 MWEB On-line DotA 2, CS:GO, and League of Legends Championship is one of the last opportunities for gamers to qualify for the National Team Trials LAN that shall be held in Gauteng on June 4, 2016.

To be eligible to compete you need be part of a team of registered players affiliated to a MSSA member club, such as local clubs BNKR Gaming (https://www.facebook.com/bnkrgaming/) and All Stars. Entry is free and eligible only to all fully-paid-up registered players.

Entries need to be submitted by no later than Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

The tournament structure will vary as per MSSA rules according to the number of teams entered. If less than six teams, the championship shall be a Round Robin Championship, if six to 10 teams enter the championship there will be four rounds as played to the Swiss System, and if 11 or more teams enter the championship there will be five rounds as played to the Swiss System.

The championship will be held on April 16 online with the first round starting at 09:00. Players will have a maximum time of 60 minutes to complete each round.

The championship is accredited as being of the same status as a provincial championship. This means that the championship will be used for the awarding of provincial colours, the awarding of medals for first, second and third places in Premier, Under 24, and School categories as well as the ability to qualify for National Team Trials.

The MSSA will decide who may shout-cast the games, anybody wishing to be appointed as a Shout-Caster must apply in writing to mindsportssa@iafrica.com.

MSSA would also like to thank MWEB for their continued support for gaming in South Africa and for extending their sponsorship to include all Mind Sports Online Championships. None of this would be possible without the continued support from MWEB.
