A soccer coach has been accused of sexually abusing members of his team and was later arrested by the police.
According to the witnesses, the coach called members of his team to play soccer in one of the soccer fields in Extension 5 in KwaGuqa. The team is based at Emasagweni. It is said that on Saturday, February 27 the boys were told to go home after their match. After a few minutes while they were hanging around in one of the street corners, they were told to join the coach at his home also in Emsagweni.
Later during the evening he asked the boys to join him in bed, he allegedly provided them with dagga after they confirmed that they do smoke. He later provided them with four tins of glue and cooked for them. After supper in bed, he allegedly raped them. One is 13 years in Grade 3 while the other is also 13 in Grade 5. They boys alleged that he repeatedly raped them.
Two of the boys that were allegedly sexually abused by a soccer coach, both the boys are 13 years-old, one in Grade 3 while the other one is in Grade 5.
The coach is originally from Zimbabwe and is said to be renting a room in Emsagweni as well as another one in Vosman.
It is alleged that community members after hearing about the abuses, surprised him while he was asleep with two of the boys. He was then arrested and handed over to the police.
“He did confess to us that he was abusing the children before the police took him away. We are worried about our children’s safety and more so because he pretends to be teaching them soccer. He is teaching our children all the wrong things and introducing them to drugs at a young age,” said one of the parents.
Community members were also concerned because theere were allegations that he has also abused a disabled child.
“We now have to arrange counselling for our children as well as taking them to the clinic for an HIV test,” added the parent.
