Kriel CPF kicks of the year with a bang

Kriel’s Community Policing Forum (CPF) has begun their year with a bang with an attempt at keeping their community safe at all times.

Kriel’s Community Policing Forum (CPF) has begun their year with a bang with an attempt at keeping their community safe at all times. The forum had their first executive committee meeting on February 9 where they outlined several issues of the community crime and rolled out their action plan.

All three sectors were available when the issue of offences such as theft, robbery with firearm, house burglaries and mob justice were raised and discussed. Members of the different sectors forum agreed that should residents come across any crime activities they must report them to the police as soon as possible and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

Offences that raised eye brows at Kriel last year included copper theft, theft of taps and house breaking.
Deputy Chairperson of the CPF Mr Joseph Nzimande said in this first meeting, an action plan was discussed on the serious measures that will be taken to protect the community; this will be followed by an imbizo where residents will be able to hear what the CPF members discussed on their executive committee gathering.

“We do not promote crime and community members are urged not to take the law into their own hands,” said Nzimande.

Secretary of Kriel CPF Mr Joe Mlangeni said there had not been a case reported on murder and stock theft thus far.

“Crime overall has decreased in the area,” said Mlangeni.

He further added that the CPF aims to continue protecting its residents by having road blocks, overnight and daytime patrols. If there is any crime you would like to report you can contact the Ga-Nala police station on 017 648 2252.
