This youngster plays chest every night with his family.

“I love it,” he says and teaches his younger brother the game.

Khetho started playing chess at the age of five on his dad’s computer. His dad would often play on the computer with him. When Khetho discovered that his new school, Audeamus Private School, offered chess, he was excited and wanted to join.

Kheto’s coach Mr John Kirk, realised his potential as he played very well for his age, and included him in the team that would represent Nkangala region in the South African Junior Chess Championships in Cape Town.
In Cape Town, Khetho team came first in the U8 section C category, winning gold medals.

“He sometimes teaches his one brother and plays against his older brother to,” says his mom, Tshepo.

His school teachers say Kheto is a very enthusiastic player who chooses to play chess during his break times.
He was among four other pupils from Audeamus School who took part in Cape Town, the school believes that chess is an excellent way to stimulate the brain and forms an integral part of the child’s development.
