Water is life, but that necessity is blocked out

The water flowing from a burst water pipe at Vulture Street is clean enough to drink and it keeps on flowing like a river leaving resident's taps dry.

Water is life; it has many uses such as cooking, drinking and bathing. However for days Andre du Plessis has been not able to enjoy the luxury of having the most precious necessity.

“I have been trying to get hold of the municipality but with no success, no one is picking up. In the meantime I am buying my own water,” said du Plessis.

He further added that this was an insult to the nearby informal settlement residents of Spring Valley who do not have water at all.

“The water wasted here would have gone a long way to the next person. What is absurd about this is that on our next water bill we will be billed for the water that is coming out of the burst water pipe. Our lives have practically stopped in these past few days. We are even unable to take a decent bath,” said a furious du Plessis.

The municipality did not respond by the time of going to print.
