The ward committee in ward 20 and the ward councillor has been having issues with advertising signs being placed on and stuck to municipal property which is against the law according to municipal by laws.

Some of the signs placed on lampposts in Bethal Road.

The problem in areas such as Blanchville, Jackaroo Park and Die Heuwel has gotten so bad that they are considering implementing fines to offenders if the problem persists.

Patrichia Etsabeth, ward 20 committee member said,

“The biggest culprits are estate agencies. I have even gone to speak with some of them.”

They would like to remind companies that free standing signs placed in the ground are legal. Alternatively buying ad space on official boards is another option.
