The newly build bridge over troubled water in Klarinet between Extension 5 and 6 has proven to be a problem. The bridge is flooded after it rains.

Since it was build, after heavy rains it is flooded with water and residents cannot use it to cross over. A gap in the entrance of the foot bridge in Klarinet seems dangerous in the newly build bridge.

“The bridge was build to help us, but we have now termed it ‘the over troubled water’ because every time it rains heavily it is trouble. The bridge is supposed to have holes for the water to pass through when it is flooded but there are no holes in the bridge. The rails on the side of the bridge are not strong and there is gap when stepping onto the bridge which can prove dangerous especially to young children,” said a resident of the area.

Even adults find it very difficult to cross the stream and are using the stepping stones since the foot bridge is flooded.

Community members are also complaining that the people who constructed the bridge did not do a good job because it not serving the purpose it was build for. A resident said he witnessed one of the teachers of Coronation Secondary School falling over and he had to go back home to change since he was wet.
It remains to be seen how the problem of the bridge over troubled water is going to be solved.
