Truck hijacked and 14 people arrested

14 suspects were arrested for different crimes committed

While a truck was hijacked on the N12 highway, the Ogies SAPS visual policing and detective members were busy in town making one arrest after another arrest.

The arrests took place from October 26 to November 2 when 14 people were arrested for different cases.
On October 30 at about 17:30 a truck driver was travelling from Duvha Power Station in eMalahleni and he was travelling towards Johannesburg.

he driver of the truck alleged that he was stopped by two police officers dressed in police uniform.
The police officers then told the truck driver to walk with them to the white Citi Volkswagen Golf that was parked on the side of the road; they then informed him that they were going to issue him with a fine.
When the truck driver got to the car they reached for their firearms and covered his face with a cloth, then ordered him to give them the truck.

The truck driver was then dropped off just before Ogies and they left him there.
Quick thinking from the truck driver after he was dropped off, made him call his boss and the tracker devices in the truck managed to track the truck which was abandoned on the R580 without the trailer.

The Ogies SAPS warns the truck drivers or any motorist not to stop on the highway especially to unmarked police vehicles, rather drive off to the nearest police station.

14 suspects were arrested for different crimes committed; two were arrested for common assaults, one for the use of a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, one for possession of dagga and selling of liquor without a licence, one for possession of dagga, one for possession of drugs, one for house robbery, one for shoplifting, one for housebreaking and theft, two for malicious damage to property and three for drinking in public.
