Police come to the rescue

"I feel as though this whole thing was planned..."

A 35-year-old man was held at gunpoint by a man who attempted to steal his car. Mr Seroko Choma is a Klarinet resident who loves watching his favourite soccer team play; he calls it a beautiful combo when he can watch the game with his friend in the same room.

On October 24 in the evening, Choma drove three streets away from his house to go watch the game with his friend as there was no electricity in his area. After the match on their way to his car, two men approached them. One came from his side and the other one came from his friend’s side. One man allegedly slapped his friend in the face whilst the other pointed at Choma with a firearm and instructed him to get into the car and drive to Pine Ridge. The suspect got in the car and sat at the back of the driver’s seat as they were driving to the place.

On their way Choma saw a police car and decided to flash his motor vehicle lights, then after stopped his vehicle in front of the police car to plead for help from them. As soon as the car stopped the suspect got out and ran away.

Choma explained to the police what happened and they all went back to Klarinet where they found his friend and the man who slapped him busy arguing. The police questioned him and he said he will give them full information about his friend. Choma went home and the following day found sandals in his car that he claims belongs to the man that attempted to steal his car.

“When he saw the police he decided to run away but he left his sandals behind. And I know whom they might belong to. They belong to my neighbour, I am pretty sure I have seen him wearing them before. And the guy that slapped my friend happens to be my neighbour’s friend,” said Choma.

The police contacted Choma and he was told that they made a turn where the suspect lives and he was not found. It is alleged that he got to his house, took his identity document and ran away.

“I feel as though this whole thing was planned, I am confused as to what it is that these men wanted to achieve. But regardless of the incident I am fine and so is my car,” concluded Choma.

The suspect has not been arrested thus far.
