Vosman police had a busy week and managed to lock 76 people behinds bars. Those arrested face charges of contravention of a protection order, being in possession of dagga, robbery and drinking in public. Four were arrested for being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, 17 for assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm; five were chained for theft and two for shoplifting.
Four were also arrested this past week for attempted murder where one of them being a 30-year-old man was murdered by one of his friends at a tavern. The deceased was at a tavern on Friday morning when he went outside and found his two friends fighting. When he tried to resolve their quarrel by separating them, the other friend broke a beer bottle and stabbed the deceased on the left side of the chest. An ambulance was called and he was certified dead on the scene. The suspect could not be traced immediately but he is known.
There were also two cases of rape that were opened where a man at Hlanikahle was arrested by Vosman police after allegedly raping a 17 year old woman.
The victim and two of her friends were on their way to Hlanikahle Extension two and a white Toyota Siyaya stopped next to them where a man got out and grabbed the victim pulling her hand and forcefully telling her to go with him. She said she could not go alone but would rather prefer to go with her friends. The suspect agreed and they all got into the taxi and drove off.
The suspect drove until they reached a butchery where he stopped and pulled out the 17-year-old dragging her towards the back side of the butchery, undressed and raped her. As he was going back to his vehicle, a police vehicle stopped next to them and the victim told the police what happened. The suspect was arrested on the spot.
