Five suspects will remain behind bars as their bail application was denied.

A year after the shooting of the former ANC National Spokesperson Mr Jackson Mthembu the case is still on going.

On Friday, October 30 the five suspects that were arrested for the shooting of Mthembu applied for bail in the Regional Court at Witbank Magistrates Court.

Their bail was denied once again as they all have applied for bail a couple of times before.
The case was postponed until Wednesday, November 18 and the suspects will remain in police custody.
The new legal team will take over on November 18 when the case will continue.
Mthembu was shot in the face while withdrawing money from the ABSA Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in the Central Business District on Sunday, October 19 at 22:00.

An unknown suspect came up behind him, drew a gun and pointed it at Mthembu, forcing him to withdraw all his money from his bank account.

The suspects appeared in court again for the shooting of Mr Jackson Mthembu, former ANC National Spokesperson’s last year.

Mthembu then turned around and hit the suspect’s hand which was holding the gun.
A shot was fired and the bullet hit Mthembu in the cheek.

Mthembu rushed to his vehicle, where he found another four suspects waiting for him. They searched him, taking three cell phones, a large sum of money and a parliament tag.

Mthembu then drove himself to Emalahleni Private Hospital where he was hospitalised for 10 days.
Within days the police followed strong leads which lead them to the arrest of the five suspects.
