Car thieves have some unusual ways that they steal cars lately

More motor vehicle thefts have been reported this week especially Volkswagens. Car thieves have some unusual ways that they steal cars lately. On August 2 the owner of a Volkswagen Golf was approached by a man wanting to buy the car. Since it was for sale the owner agreed to meet the potential buyer at Highveld Mall on August 5 where he would make the money transfer. After apparently making the transfer the buyer asked to take the car for a drive while they waited for the transfer to be completed however when he got into the driver’s seat the suspect just drove off. The victim reported the crime to the police as no transfer was made.

A more conventional theft took place on August 5 when a red Mazda was stolen from a parking lot at Duvha Power station. The owner apparently left his vehicle there at about 11:00 and when he returned to it in the afternoon at about 17:00 it was gone.

Yet another Volkswagen Golf was stolen outside of a person’s house. The driver told authorities that she parked her vehicle in the driveway of her boyfriend’s house on August 5. When she returned to her vehicle the following morning it was gone.

On August 8 a man was robbed of his newly purchased VW as he watched the robbers drive away with it. The victim had just returned home when a man pulled a gun on him in his driveway.
