House fires were reported around eMalahleni over the weekend and last week. A total of four fires destroyed everything in its wake.
During last week there was a fire in Pine Ridge. On Friday, July 31 a burnt down thatch lapa was the result of a fire not being put out before the residents went to bed. The roof caught alight and destroyed half the roof as well as damages inside.
Another fire on Saturday, August 1, in Tasbet Park extension 2 had devastating causes. The entire house completely burnt down leaving nothing besides cracked walls and empty window frames.
On Sunday, August 2 a garage of a house burnt down in Blancheville. Witbank 911 response team forced their way into the garage by breaking the door down to start extinguishing the fire before the fire brigade arrived on scene.
The causes of these fires are still unknown.
