Domestic locked in the cupboard for a day

A domestic worker was surprised by a pair of armed robbers when she was locked up in a cupboard.

According to her statement to police, the domestic worker was cleaning a home in Brenda Street on July 13 when she heard a loud bang coming from outside. She went to inspect what had happened, when she was approached by a man armed with a screwdriver. Before she could turn and run another man approached her, he asked her where the safe was.

She was unable to point out to the robbers where the safe was and was in turn locked up in one of the cupboards where she was left for the entire day, only to be rescued by her employer later that day.
The robbers searched the home and stole a number of items including a set of car keys, and jewellery to the value of R50 000.

A case of house robbery was opened at the police station; no arrests have yet been made.
