Suspect remains in jail for mother’s stabbing

The suspect that was arrested for stabbing a woman 12 times last year, will remain in police custody until his next appearance.

On Monday, July 13 the suspect appeared in Witbank Magistrates Court for the attempted murder case of Ms Heleen Jansen van Rensburg.

The suspect’s fingerprints were also a positive match for other housebreakings in eMalahleni.
The case was then remanded until August 21 and he will appear in the Regional Court.
“I have 15 witnesses so far for this case,” said Warrant Officer Bongi Malepe.

Jansen van Rensburg was at home with her three children when the incident happened.
She heard a noise from inside the main bedroom, she then went to see what was happening, by the time Jansen van Rensburg got to her room the suspect was already inside the room.

He first threatened her and then he started stabbing her, she was taken to Life Cosmos Hospital where they treated her for 12 stab wounds and scratches.
