An accident occurred on the R555 (old Middelburg-Witbank Road) when a white freightliner and a white Ford bakkie collided at approximately 8:35 on Thursday morning, July 16. The Freightliner driver alleges that he was driving from Middelburg to Witbank on the slow lane when he noticed a vehicle coming from a gravel road. He switched lanes, driving in the fast lane to overtake a bantam that was in front of him. And as he drove past the bantam he collided with a bakkie that suddenly turned in front of him making a u-turn facing on-coming traffic.
