Employee from council burnt

One of the senior electricians from Emalahleni City Council sustained burns to his hands over the weekend.

On Sunday, July 12 Mr Wonderboy Matebula was taken into theatre for treatment of burns.
Matebula got burned when power was unexpectedly restored whilst working on a station where links were stolen earlier that day.
“I would like to wish him a speedy recovery,” said Mr Theo van Vuuren, acting municipal manager.

Comments and well wishes from the eMalahleni community flooded Van Vuuren’s Facebook page.
“So sorry to hear hope he has a speedy recovery,” said Mr Shaun Nel.
Ms Mama Gosiame Happiness said, “Speedy recovery Mr Mathebula.”
“Speedy recovery Mr Mathebula,” said Ms Emmatjie Nthuli.

Ms Maroga Stan said; “Safety procedures should be reviewed quickly as to prevent this from happening in future. Lock out system should be in place and every employee should adhere to it to save lives.”
