Yvonne back at home, Willie still recovering
Two months after the horrific accident at the Middelburg Toll Plaza the Els couple are still recovering.
On Monday, July 13 Mr Joggie Smit, their son-in-law spoke about Ms Yvonne and Mr Willie Els’s recovery.
“Our mother is back at home and she is recovering nicely and our father is still in rehab, recovering slower due to the nature of his head injuries. But he’s doing very well and should be returning home within the next couple of weeks,” said Smit.
On Friday, May 1 Willie and his wife Yvonne were travelling on the N4 highway towards Middelburg when the accident occurred at the Middelburg Toll Plaza.
The couple’s white Renault Sandero crashed into the back of a stationery truck just off the apron at the toll plaza.
Willie sustained serious head injuries and Yvonne sustained severe lung and chest injuries. They were stabilised and then transferred to Netcare Milpark Hospital.
