Operation Hlasela in full operation

Operation Hlasela is in full operation in and around the city of eMalahleni.

Acting city manager Mr Theo Van Vuuren posted in his Face book page that on Tuesday, June 23 the focus was in Ackerville where there is no payment for any services and in most cases also no rental agreements between the people staying there and the council.

“The matter has been ongoing for years. The executive mayor led the operations this morning where hostels were switched off and won’t be reconnected until the situation is rectified. The operation did not target residential areas but we even experienced a hostile reaction from surrounding area who was informed that they will be cut today.”

The residents were further reminded that proper notice to everyone has already been given in the press and through councillors that any time they could be cut off for non-payment. The residents are further reminded to use the opportunity to correct their accounts and to make arrangements.

Mr Van Vuuren was accompanied by officials from the municipality.
