On Tuesday morning, June 16 when Ms Alet Lombaard the house mother, woke up and went to the kitchen she noticed that one of the security gates which she locks every night was opened.
She then went to investigate and noticed that the generator had been taken.
She immediately alerted the police and Witbank Community Forum arrived on scene.
Police took Lombaard’s statement as Witbank Community Forum put a requested out on their radio channel that Kabod House is in need of a new generator, within minutes people started staying that they would give sponsors for a new generator.
“This is terrible, it never stops and we are only helping the community by giving babies a new lease on life,” said Ms Lorriane Prinsloo the new project manager.
Kabod House operates under the wing of uMephi, a registered welfare organization programme, through which a service is rendered to orphaned and abandoned babies of 0 to 18 months left be in hospitals or found by police.
Kabod House is situated at the Neo Dox AFM Church grounds, 2b Rhodes Street on the corner with Beatty Street.
