Vosman police thwart truck’s hijackers

Vosman Police officers recently prevented a truck from being hijacked at the Ferobank road.

The police reported that on Friday, May 29 at about 11:00 they received a call from the 29-year-old driver of the truck from Middelburg, who said he was blocked on the way by a grey Toyota bakkie and a Toyota Corolla and eight suspects were in the car. While he was trying to find out as to what was happening, some of the men from the bakkie forced their way into the truck and one pointed a firearm at him.

The suspects then took over driving the Tata truck towards the dumping area and left him along the way. His was fortunate because he saw a police vehicle and reported that he had been hijacked a few minutes ago.
The police followed the truck and they were able to recover it. It was then driven to Vosman Police Station for further investigation. No one has been arrested and police are investigation.

Vosman Police Station communication officer Captain Klaas Maloka indicated that they were danger areas like the Ferrobank road, Balmoral road, Costars and drivers should always be aware of those areas.
