R320 000 of hijacked goods recovered

Witbank Police Crime Prevention Unit recovered cigarettes worth R320 000 and a hijacked van just outside MNS.

The recovery took place on June 2. A van had been hijacked in the Middelburg/Witbank area.

The cigarettes were offloaded in the field near MNS informal settlement and the van was dumped on the other side of the settlement.

Police received information that the van was hijacked and its last reported location was near Jackaroo Park.
Police searched the outskirts of MNS where they located a suspect who managed to evade custody, they then continued their search of the area to find both the cigarette stock and hijacked vehicle.
