Negligence is absolute rubbish

A courier collided with a refuse removal bin that was left in the road.

The accident took place on Friday, May 29 at about 16:00 in Van Niekerk Street.
A resident hired two refuse bins from Emalahleni Municipality, the bins were dropped off at the address but were not placed on the sidewalk as per standard, instead both bins were placed roughly two meters into the road, obstructing it.

In the accident report, Mr Peter Tshoana claimed he was doing a delivery and driving down Van Niekerk Street when he attempted to avoid another vehicle and crashed into the bins, which had not been demarcated as a hazard.
The vehicle was severely damaged in the front left, and Tshoana sustained minor injuries.

A community member in the street marked the bins with reflective tape in hope of preventing further accidents as the bins could only be moved by the municipality the following morning.
“He hasn’t been 100% himself since the accident, we hope that he is alright,” said Mr Raymond Boswell, a colleague of Tshoana.
